Commencing 2016 through 2020, Mr. Lancey was the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales, and was responsible for the business development, marketing and sponsorship activities of the Northwell Health Ice Center, the New York Islanders official practice facility. Prior to that, he was responsible for the front office day-to-day business operations of the team; including marketing, sales, game operations and media relations departments of the New York Islanders Hockey Club (NHL), Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL) and the New York Dragons Arena Football Team (AFL). Responsibilities included revenue generation, business development, marketing strategies, media relations, social media, and expansion of brands and markets for the Nassau Coliseum and HarborYard Sports and Entertainment Center, including Family Shows and Concerts.
In 2007, Mr. Lancey began a two-year appointment as Senior Vice President of Marketing, Government Relations and Communications for the Lighthouse Development Group, a large scale mixed-use real estate development project. There he led the marketing, government and community efforts to bring the Islanders and Long Island a next generation community with a new arena incorporating smart growth principles. This multi-billion dollar, 150 acre, smart growth project included concept design, partnership activation, entitlement and programming responsibilities.
Before entering the sports and entertainment industry, Mr. Lancey’s career led him to join, in 1981, a small start-up software company, founded by Charles Wang, called Computer Associates (CA) as the International Controller. After helping take the Company public in 1981 ($17 million in revenue and 200 employees) CA became, by the year 2000, both an industry and world business leader. As one of the key executives driving growth and expansion throughout two decades, the Company achieved software revenues approaching $5 billion with 24,000 employees operating in over 50 countries across six continents. After a decade of rising through the sales organization achieving sales leader of the year, sales manager and sales executive of the year, Mr. Lancey was promoted to a series of corporate positions. These included Chief Marketing Officer, Senior Vice President of Sales and General Manager of many of its largest divisions, with both domestic, Silicon Valley and international responsibilities. The journey from start-up to Fortune 500 had him involved with the century’s greatest minds, innovators and businessmen such as Gates, Grove, Jobs and Wang.
Senior Management responsibilities and experiences at CA included Marketing Strategy and Activation, Sales, Public Relations, New Media, Investor Relations, Finance, Business Development, Mergers and Acquisition, Engineering and business operations. Mr. Lancey spearheaded experiences and events such as press conferences on the Great Wall of China, White House summits on Technology and CA World, a 25,000 person global client trade show. Marketing campaigns and product launches were also an integral part of his responsibilities. He also arranged and hosted an array of meetings with various Presidents, Prime Ministers and business leaders such as Presidents George H. W. Bush and Jimmy Carter, as well as, General Colin Powell, Jiang Zemin, President of China, Margaret Thatcher, Prime Minister UK and Bill Gates.
Mr. Lancey’s career began at Colgate-Palmolive, Inc. as an international operational auditor. He spent extended audit and managerial time in business locales such as Argentina, Australia, China, Fiji Islands, India, Japan, the United Kingdom and Zambia. He managed operations for the first U.S. Open at the National Tennis Center and worked for the N.Y. Mets Baseball Club.
A native New Yorker, Mr. Lancey is a graduate of the State University of New York at Oneonta with majors in Finance and Accounting, and graduate studies at The New School for Social Research. He has served on several boards, lectured at various Universities and has advised many growing businesses. He is a father of three grown sons and resides in Dix Hills, New York with his wife, Nanette.
